摘要：

【目的】通过分析英文期刊《冈瓦纳研究》（Gondwana Research）快速发展的历程,为国内学术期刊发展提供借鉴。【方法】从《冈瓦纳研究》历年的影响因子、总被引频次和期刊论文,以及其不断改进的办刊模式等方面进行探讨。【结果】《冈瓦纳研究》自1997年10月创刊以来,在短短的十几年内从一个专业期刊快速成长为一个多学科的、高影响力的综合期刊,经历了初创期（1997—2003）,过渡期（2004—2006）和快速发展期（2007至今）。【结论】要办好一本优秀的英文科技期刊：（1）积极主动的扩大稿源、合理控制论文数量是基础;（2）缩短论文评审和发表的周期是关键;（3）树立服务作者和读者的意识是根本。

Abstract:

[Purposes]This paper summarizes the fast developing course of Gondwana Research （GR） in order to provide references for the development of academ ic journals in China.[Methods]The author systematically analyzed the journal's impact factor, total citations, journal articles including volumes/issues, quantities, and pages per year of GR.The author also paid more attention to its continuous improvement in the publication idea.[Findings]The GR has been fast changed from a professional journal to amulti-disciplinary and high impact international journal since its first issue was published on October,1997.The GR undergoes three stages： the start-up period （1997-2003）, the transitional period （2004-2006）, and the rapid development period（2007 up to now）.[Conclusions]Revelations from the rapid development of Gondwana Research are that（1） the foundation of the journal is to proactively enlarge the paper source and reasonably control its paper quantity; （2） the key is to shorten the period of paper review and publication; （3） it is fundamental to set up service awareness for authors and readers.
