Platform-based exploration of four-cover reviewing modes for scientific journals: Taking journals supervised by Chinese Academy of Sciences as examples

Abstract:

[Purposes] With the aid of machine-reviewing platform, this paper aims to standardize the four-cover editing and typesetting of scientific journals supervised by Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is expected to promote the digitalization of four-cover reviewing and improve the quality of the four-cover editing and typesetting of scientific journals in China. [Methods] On the basis of literature research and the "Reviewing Form for Four-cover Editing and Typesetting", the four-cover reviewing questionnaire was designed and then modified according to the suggestions of experts. The questionnaire was uploaded to the machine-reviewing platform and the editing and typesetting of four covers of the scientific journals published in 2020 were reviewed and analyzed. [Findings] The following problems of Chinese journals were found: no publishing month or publishing unit on the front cover, and no contact of the publishing unit on the copyright page. For English journals, no page of contents was observed, and the copyright page had co-sponsors but no price. Compared with Chinese journals or English journals, journals in both English and Chinese had few problems in the editing and typesetting of four covers. [Conclusions] The machine-reviewing platform simplifies the reviewing, promotes the digitalization of the four-cover reviewing of scientific journals, and enhances the standardization of the four-cover arrangement of scientific journals.

摘要:

【目的】 探讨利用四封审读工作平台规范中国科学院主管科技期刊的四封编排,以推动科技期刊四封审读的智能化发展,提升我国科技期刊的四封编排质量。【方法】 在文献调研基础上,依据前期制作的科技期刊《四封编排规范性审核表》设计四封审读问卷。通过专家咨询法优化问卷后,将问卷上传至四封审读工作平台;通过四封审读工作平台对中国科学院主管的2020年出版的科技期刊的四封编排规范性进行审读和分析。【结果】 中文科技期刊四封编排的不规范问题主要表现为封一未标注出版月和出版单位,版权页未标注出版单位联系方式;英文期刊四封编排不规范问题主要为无目次页、版权页标有协办单位和无期刊定价;与中文期刊和英文期刊相比,中英文期刊四封编排的不规范问题较少。【结论】 四封审读工作平台可简化审读的程序,在一定程度上助推科技期刊四封审读的智能化发展,在进一步提升我国科技期刊四封编排的规范性方面发挥重要作用。
