Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper analyzes the operation and development status of WeChat official accounts of political academic journals in China, explores the relationship between the operation of WeChat official accounts and the academic influence of journals, and provides a reference for the improvement of the influence of academic journals and the management decisions of journal managers. [Methods] Taking CSSCI source journals of political science as the research object, this paper used nearly 15000 posts and social media indicators of 29 political journals' WeChat official accounts from 2014 to 2023. Combined with the comprehensive impact factor indicators of political journals, the paper used correlation analysis and regression analysis to test the correlation. [Findings] It is found that there is no significant correlation between the evaluation index of political journals' WeChat official accounts and the comprehensive impact factor of the journals, while the social media influence of a single post is negatively correlated with the comprehensive impact factor of the journals, and the comprehensive impact factor of the journals is positively correlated with the number of fans of the WeChat official accounts. [Conclusions] DAt present, the operation of WeChat official accounts of political journals has limited effect on improving their academic influence. Improving the academic influence of journals will help to achieve a virtuous circle in the development of social media accounts of journals.
