Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims to analyze the status quo of journals of universities on the latest list of "double first-class" construction which offer courses on branches of agriculture, discuss the relationship between the journals and the discipline construction, and search strategies for synergetic development between the two. [Methods] The journals of 15 eligible universities were classified into comprehensive natural science journals and agricultural journals. We searched information from CNKI, official websites of journals, and ESI, and then explored the strategies for synergetic development of university journals and world-class disciplines on agriculture. [Findings] The content of papers of comprehensive natural science journals is generally consistent with the development of world-class disciplines. The development of agricultural journals in universities is uneven, but the overall development is satisfying. From the perspectives of mutually reinforcing, seeking common ground while reserving differences, breaking new ground in practice, and emphasizing science-based guidance, we provide ideas for the coordinated development of agricultural journals and discipline construction in universities. [Conclusions] University journals and the construction of first-class disciplines should reinforce each other. It is suggested that efforts should be made to implement differential management and professional transformation of university journals. Moreover, on the basis of science-based guidance, reasonable incentive measures should be adopted. All these measures are expected to promote the coordinated development between the university journals and world-class agriculture disciplines.
