Abstract:

+[Purposes]This paper aims to analyze the obvious characteristics of suspicious ghostwriting manuscripts from medical journals, so as to improve the review consciousness of editors. [Methods] Literature review and case collection were used to summarize the features of ghostwriting manuscripts from authorships, manuscript contents, and writing style. [Findings] In recent years, the popularization of anti-plagiarism software has reduced the issues of plagiarism, but the issues of ghostwriting are increasing. We summarize the clues for finding out ghostwriting in related issues of authorship, manuscript content, manuscript type, and font and format in Word. [Conclusions] Ghostwriting is more concealed than plagiarism and is difficult to be found out. Medical editors need to improve their abilities to identify ghostwriting manuscripts. We hope that relevant administration departments will crackdown on the ghostwriting transaction chain and purify the academic environment.
