Abstract:

[Purposes] Aiming at the prominent problems of the natural science journals sponsored by normal university, this paper puts forward some measures and suggestions of optimizing manuscript in order to enhance the academic competitiveness of journals. [Methods] Based on the statistical data(paper number, internal manuscript amount, institutions distribution, and core authors) of 26 natural science journals sponsored by normal university from 2014 to 2017, this paper analyzed the relevant factors of manuscript optimization. [Findings] Manuscripts in the natural science journals sponsored by normal university have the following characteristics: the volume of manuscripts is relatively stable and tends to decrease, and the number of internal manuscripts is too large, while the number of institutions is small; the number of core authors is more, while the author group is small. Compared with other natural science journals of universities, the natural science journals sponsored by normal university are always cited with the least number of citations, and the journals have the lowest impact factors. The overall academic influence needs to be improved urgently. [Conclusions] Editors should make full use of the advantages of the school's unique subject resources and the core author resources of the journal, and highlight the editors' ability of soliciting contributions and academic hotspot planning ability to improve the intrinsic quality of manuscript sources. Furthermore, editors should optimize the quality of manuscripts by expanding the size of authors' groups and increasing the distribution of authors' organizations.
