Abstract:
[Purposes] This paper explores the mechanism of the journal preprint policy, grasps the policy path of the collaborative development of journals and preprints, promotes the organic linkage between academic journals and preprints, and provides a basis for the formulation of relevant guidelines and normative policies for journals. [Methods] Based on grounded theory, this paper summarized the categories and built models of the preprint policies of 120 journals, sorted out the mechanism of their action on the academic exchange behavior of authors in preprint, and analyzed the interaction mechanism of each module. [Findings] One story line, three scenarios (main categories), nine categories, and 25 concepts of the action mechanism of journal preprint policy on the exchange behavior of authors in preprint are summarized, and a "policy-scenario-behavior" integrated model of the action mechanism of journal preprint policy is constructed. [Conclusions] It is suggested that journals should pay attention to improving the policy environment and increasing the willingness of authors to contribute to the preprint, promoting collaborative service and cultivating preprint behavior literacy of authors, and advocating credible communication and stipulating the responsibility of preprint communication during preprint policy formulation.
