Abstract:

[Purposes] This study aims to introduce the situation of the products and services of three mainstream technical facilitators for online publishing platform in the international scientific, technical, and medical (STM) publishing, and provide references for the STM publishing institutions when establishing the online publishing platforms or choosing the technical service providers. [Methods] Through field visits, official websites, and e-mail consultations, the profile, products, functions, and services of the three providers were introduced and compared to find their respective characteristics. [Findings] The three facilitators are all established in the United States, and their customers include many well-known STM publishing institutions. They all have mature online publishing platform products. At the same time, they respond to the needs of publishing institutions and authors, insist on innovation, refine the needs, and develope personalized products and services. [Conclusions] When establishing the online publishing platform or selecting the technical facilitators, China's STM publishing institutions could refer to the international mature cases, evaluate the current status and future development direction of the journals, and select or develop products and services based on the needs of the journals.

【目的】 介绍国际科技期刊界三家主流在线出版平台技术服务商的产品和服务情况,为我国科技期刊出版机构建设在线出版平台或选择相应技术服务商提供参考。【方法】 通过实地走访、查阅官方网站、邮件咨询等方式,对公司概况、产品和功能服务等方面进行介绍和比较,分析其各自特点。【结果】 三家技术服务商均创立于美国,且客户涵盖众多知名学术出版机构;均有成熟的在线出版平台产品,同时顺应出版机构和作者的需求,坚持创新,进一步将需求细化,开发出个性化产品及服务。【结论】 我国科技期刊在建设在线出版平台或选择技术服务商时,可参考国际成熟案例,对自身现状及未来发展方向进行评估,以期刊需求为导向,选择或开发满足自身需求的产品和服务。
