Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims at optimizing the journal positioning and topic selection through mapping knowledge domain obtained by CiteSpace, so as to improve the academic influence of Chinese scientific journals. [Methods] We selected nine core journals as research objects. The highly cited papers published in these journals from 2015 to 2019 were sorted out. Based on CiteSpace, we conducted the co-word analysis in the past five years for these journals, and revealed and compared the research focuses of 9 Chinese core journals and 5 international top ecology journals. [Findings] The articles published in China's ecology core journals reflect the research hotspots of ecology. However, the articles on research hotspots are insufficient, and some scarce research hotspots should be involved in the topic selection and planning in the future. [Conclusions] The application of CiteSpace in scientific journals helps to sort out the research hotspots and provides a new way to optimize journal positioning and topic selection.
