科技期刊“大”有可为:《材料科学技术(英文)》自立自强发展路径探索和实践

Unleashing excellence of scientific journals by expanding influence and enhancing publication volume: Exploring the path of self-reliance for Journal of Materials Science & Technology

摘要:

【目的】 为不断提高科技期刊影响力,更好服务我国科技发展战略,梳理《材料科学技术(英文)》在做强、做大过程中的路径和实践,提出科技期刊实现高水平自立自强的策略。【方法】 以《材料科学技术(英文)》为例,通过网络调研、文献检索以及数据分析,总结了我国科技高速发展以及利好政策的背景下,期刊在完善管理和运行机制、拓展学科方向、变更办刊模式、严控稿源质与量、多渠道提升传播力几个方面实施的举措。【结果】 《材料科学技术(英文)》发文量和影响因子多年来实现持续同步增长,影响因子、总被引频次和发文量均进入学科排名前10%,快速发展成为本领域具有较高学科引领能力和影响力、初具自立自强特质的科技期刊。【结论】 提高科技期刊影响力并适当增加发文量,将科技期刊做强、做大,是科技期刊实现自立自强的有效途径。

Abstract:

[Purposes] To continuously enhance the influence of scientific journals, better serve the national’s science and technology development strategies, this study summarizes the developmental strategies and practices adopted by Journal of Materials Science & Technology (JMST) in its journey to expand influence, enhance publication volume, aiming to explore pathways for scientific journals to achieve high-level self-reliance. [Methods] Through online research, literature review and data analysis, the key initiatives implemented by JMST under the backdrop of rapid technological advancement, favorable national policies were summarized, which included streamlining journal governance and operational mechanism, broadening disciplinary coverage, transforming publishing model, rigorous manuscript screening for quality, expanding publication volume and enhancing dissemination via multi-channel strategies following upon the clear development goals. [Findings] JMST achieved sustainable growth in both publication volume and influence, with annual publications reaching approximately 1000 papers. It has emerged as a disciplinary leader in materials science, demonstrating initial capabilities in self-reliance. [Conclusions] The strategy of expanding influence and enhancing publication volume proves effective for scientific journals to attain self-reliance. JMST’s experience provides a replicable model for domestic journals navigating the dual challenges of academic excellence and international competitiveness.
