Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper explores the method and path for standardization of the signature of corresponding authors in sports academic journals by reviewing the signature of corresponding authors in sports academic journals and analyzing the reasons for the problems, aiming to promote the development of the sports discipline. [Methods] We employed logical analysis and case analysis to study the labeling of corresponding authors publishing papers on issue 1 of 43 sports academic journals in 2022. [Findings] The labeling rate of corresponding authors of sports academic journals is 34.18%, and there are problems in signature information, author identity, relevant contributions, etc. Sports academic journals have not reached a consensus on the signature of corresponding authors. Furthermore, the journals have not established a labeling mechanism for corresponding authors, a disciplinary system for research integrity, or a mechanism for evaluating sports research. [Conclusions] The academic community of sports academic journals should reach a consensus on the signature of corresponding authors. The editorial departments of the journals should establish a strict labeling and review mechanism. Sports research institutions should reform the evaluation mechanism of corresponding authors and cooperate with the editorial departments to establish a disciplinary system for research integrity to promote the standardization of the signature of corresponding authors of sports academic papers.
