Abstract:

[Purposes] By analyzing the roles of academic journals in public health emergencies, the measures taken by academic journal staff to fight against the COVID-19 are summarized, so as to provide references for academic journals to play a better role in public health events and fulfill their social responsibilities. [Methods] By means of literature review, case collection, and data statistical analysis, the efforts made by academic journals to fight against COVID-19 since the outbreak of the epidemic by combining with the characteristics of the work were summarized. [Findings] Academic journals have done a lot of work in the process of fighting against the epidemic. Medical journals have reviewed manuscripts with both timeliness and quality, so as to ensure that the latest scientific research results can be published with the high speed and high quality. The non-medical journals are actively integrated, and the economic and social development is guided by the planning of topics according to their professional characteristics. The new publishing mode can shorten the publishing cycle and optimize the academic support platform for epidemic prevention and control. The comprehensive use of new media resources can enrich the service content and improve the service effect. [Conclusions] Academic journals should undertake the corresponding social responsibility in the fight against the epidemic of COVID-19, and continue to play their role of spreading anti-epidemic achievements and spiritual guidance after the epidemic.
