Abstract:

[Purposes] World-class scientific journals are demanded for the development of science and technology in China. By summarizing the experience of professional scientific editors of Molecular Plant in journal academic quality control, discussing the implementation conditions of this mode, we aim to provide a reference for fostering more world-class scientific journals in China. [Methods] Taking Molecular Plant as the subject, we analyze the achievement and main reasons of the professional scientific editors in promoting journal development. [Findings] Molecular Plant is managed by a dedicated team of professional scientific editors who oversee the entire process of academic evaluation of all submissions and decide the manuscript acceptance or rejection. This mode plays an important role in promoting the rapid growth of Molecular Plant. By building a professional scientific editor team with strong academic background and establishing a fast, fair, and objective manuscript evaluation system, this mode ensures the academic quality control of publications and improves the author services of the journal. To ensure the capability of the professional scientific editor team, it is important to enhance the academic skills in evaluating manuscripts of professional scientific editors, provide professional scientific editors reasonable remunerations and promotion opportunities, and establish a smooth workflow between professional scientific editors and downstream publishers. [Conclusions] The exploration and practice of Molecular Plant can be referred by other scientific journals in China when choosing their own operation models and constructing journal operation teams.

【目的】 建设世界一流科技期刊是支撑我国科技发展的需要,基于《分子植物》采用专职科学编辑负责制进行学术把关和内容建设的经验,讨论该办刊模式的实施条件和保障机制,为我国建设世界一流科技期刊提供参考。【方法】 以《分子植物》为研究对象,分析专职科学编辑促进高水平办刊的成效和主要原因。【结果】 《分子植物》由专职科学编辑负责学术把关、编辑部自主决定稿件录用与否,有效推进了期刊快速发展。该办刊模式通过组建高水平的专职科学编辑团队,建立由专职科学编辑主导的快速、公正和客观的稿件评审制度来保证期刊的学术质量和服务作者的能力。提升专职科学编辑的学术鉴赏力,建立良好的薪酬和晋升体系,建立顺畅的专职科学编辑与下游出版发行工作的衔接机制,是专职科学编辑团队建设和优势发挥的保障。【结论】 《分子植物》专职科学编辑办刊的探索与实践对于我国其他科技期刊选择适合自身的办刊模式和建设人才队伍有重要的参考价值。
