Abstract:
[Purposes] We choose 17 academic journals published in Guangdong Province as study objects to analyze mobile communication effects of academic journals and provide references for improving the influence of other journals. [Methods] We put the data such as journal situation, website situation, usage of micro-blog, usage of WeChat official accounts, situation of database client, and usage of journal developed App into the established academic journal mobile communication power evaluation model to discuss the present condition, existing problems, and development countermeasures of academic journals. In order to test the stability and reliability of the proposed model, we divided the periodicals into social science periodicals and technical periodicals according to the subjects, and compared the differences between these two groups. [Findings] Among the 17 academic journals, the mobile communication index of Electroplating & Finishing, Journal of Physical Education, Journal of Sun Yat-sen University (Social Science Edition), Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology, Organ Transplantation, and Journal of Sun Yat-sen University (Medical Science Edition) are better than those of other journals. It suggests that these journals have strong mobile communication ability. The secondary index of mobile communication index is dynamic, and the mobile communication index of academic journals is also dynamic. We compare the mobile communication index of social science journals and scientific journals by two independent samples t-test. There is no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). It is suggested that the constructed communication model should not be affected by subject. [Conclusions] The proposed mobile communication evaluation model has the characteristics of dynamic change and stability at the same time. It is operable, scientific, and reasonable, and it can clarify the direction and promotion strategy of mobile communication of academic journals.
