Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims to analyze the relationship between agricultural science journals sponsored by agricultural and forestry universities and agricultural disciplines and put forward the layout strategy of agricultural science journals sponsored by agricultural and forestry universities. [Methods] Taking the agricultural science journals sponsored by 29 agricultural and forestry universities, the evaluation results of these universities in the fourth round of agricultural discipline evaluation, and the agricultural discipline in the second round of "double first-class" discipline construction as the research objects, the overall discipline distribution of the 29 agricultural science journals sponsored by these universities and that of agricultural disciplines in these universities were compared from the macro level. The relationship of agricultural science and professional journals with agricultural disciplines was analyzed from the micro level. [Findings] Compared with the current situation of agricultural disciplines in agricultural and forestry universities, the number and discipline of high-level agricultural science journals sponsored by these universities need to be further strengthened. The construction of relevant journals of crop science, veterinary medicine, animal science, and other dominant disciplines is insufficient, and there are gaps in the journals of agricultural resources and environment and grass science. The comprehensive journals of agricultural science account for a relatively high proportion, reaching 59.68%, and the literature discipline published by each university shows a relatively balanced correlation with the results of the fourth round of discipline evaluation. The construction of professional journals reflects the strong correlation with the dominant disciplines of the university. [Conclusions] The relationship between the agricultural science journals sponsored by agricultural and forestry universities and agricultural disciplines should be analyzed. The top-level design and macro-orientation should be strengthened, and cluster development and overall layout should be considered. The development of classification shall be promoted, and the discipline layout and level layout of agricultural science journals sponsored by agricultural and forestry universities shall be optimized. The dominant disciplines of universities can be relied on to highlight the features of specialized disciplines of journals.
