[Purposes] This paper aims to understand key influencing factors of researchers' choice with open access mega-journals and provide references for publishing industry. [Methods] Taking the authors who published articles on the PLoS ONE in 2016 as respondents, we took the method of network questionnaire and constructed evaluation scale of factors which influenced researchers on choosing open access mega-journals. The key influencing factors were analyzed by factor analysis with SPSS software. [Findings] The quality, reputation, review, and publishing speed of journals are important factors that affected authors' choice. [Conclusions] Publishers should try to use open peer review and community assessment to ensure the quality of papers and enhance the influence of journals. They should expand the journals' broad and shorten the review and publication period to attract authors' submission, and set reasonable APC and crack down on fraudulent open access journals.
