Abstract:

[Purposes] Based on the research articles of open access platforms, Altmetrics indexes of single article were tracked and analyzed, the characteristics and laws of research articles were discussed to enrich network dissemination theories of academic papers.[Methods] The Altmetrics data of 38 research articles published from November 2016 in PLoS Biology and PLoS Medicine were tracked and recorded. The ending record was on October 16, 2017. The cumulative trends and distribution of the total view indicator were explored, and the statistical analysis and test of collected data were performed.[Findings] The cumulative curves of page views show sustained growth with certain regularity, and the growth rate increases first and gradually decreases with time. The sum of the total views of 20% articles is more than half of that of another 80% articles. The distribution characteristics of total views of different stages are consistent.[Conclusions] The initial period of publication is a large accumulation stage of page view. The growth with time for the page view distribution of different articles is consistent.
