Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims to find out countermeasures to improve the loyalty of the authors and the quality of science and technology journals by analyzing the factors related to the loyalty of authors.[Methods] Based on social capital theory, structural equation model of social capital, communication efficiency and loyalty of authors were put forward. The theoretical framework was empirically tested by software AMOS 17.0 based on data from online questionnaire surveys of authors of Chinese Journal of Cell Biology.[Findings] Experimental results suggested that social capital of structural dimension improved the loyalty of authors indirectly by communication efficiency. Social capital of relational and cognitive dimension not only improved the loyalty of authors directly, but also improved the loyalty of authors indirectly by communication efficiency.[Conclusions] Communication with authors of science and technology journals should be strengthened; trustworthy relationship between editors and authors should be promoted; agreement on the purpose and academic style of the journal should be made.
