Abstract:

[Purposes] This study aims to explore the path to enhancing journal strength by analyzing the hard and soft power of academic journals. [Methods] By analyzing the functions and missions of journals and the definition of the connotation of the hard and soft power of academic journals, this study summarized nine performances of journals in terms of hard and soft power. Furthermore, the methods of enhancing journal strength were summarized into three stages: new journal start-up, stable single journal enhancement, and advancement to the level of publishers. [Findings] The hard power of journals is embodied by collecting world-class research achievements, having multidisciplinary influence, being cited by top journals, being included in important databases, representing commercial values, and using international scientific language. The soft power of journals is embodied by strictly evaluating world-class papers, having the courage to encourage diverse opinions and ideas, and reflecting historical accumulation. [Conclusions] Focusing on the hard and soft power of journals and implementing corresponding enhancement strategies in different stages of journal development can help China establish a number of internationally competitive brand journals and publishing groups and enhance China's discourse power.

【目的】通过对学术期刊硬软实力的分析,探讨期刊实力的提升路径。【方法】在分析期刊功能和使命、界定学术期刊硬软实力内涵的基础上,总结期刊硬软实力的9个表现,并分别从新刊初创、单刊稳定提升、期刊到出版社层面进阶3个不同阶段总结期刊提升实力的方法。【结果】荟萃世界一流科研成果、具有多学科影响力、被顶尖期刊引用、被重要数据库收录、具有商业价值以及使用世界科技语言是期刊硬实力的表现,严格评判世界一流论文、拥有百家争鸣的勇气以及历史积淀是期刊软实力的表现。【结论】通过关注期刊硬软实力,并在期刊不同发展阶段实施对应的提升策略,可助力我国建成一批具有国际竞争力的期刊品牌和若干出版集团,提升国家话语权。
