Abstract:

[Purposes] This study aims to analyze the status of oncology meta-analysis papers, and to explore the correlation between journal types and citation frequency of oncology meta-analysis papers, which can provide reference for scholars to advertise their researches. [Methods] The oncology meta-analysis papers published from 2011 to 2016 were took as research objects to extract the informations of citation frequency, authors' countries, impact factors, journal types. [Findings] The number of oncology meta-analysis papers published by Chinese authors ranks first in the world, but the average citation frequency per paper is the lowest among the researched countries. In the period of 2011—2016, the number of open access (OA) meta-analysis papers is on the rise. The citation frequency of oncology meta-analysis papers has low correlation with journal types. The average impact factor and citation frequency of non-OA journals of meta-analysis in oncology field are higher than those of OA journals. The average impact factor of high citation frequency papers is higher than that of low citation frequency papers. [Conclusions] There is no citation advantage in OA journals of oncology meta-analysis papers, and the paper quality is still the main factor of meta-analysis papers.
