Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims to explore the influence promotion strategies of representative foreign journals and provide reference for the development of Chinese oceanography SCI journals. [Methods] According to the characteristics of domestic oceanography SCI journals, three foreign journals were selected for further analysis. For each journal, the relationships between the impact factor (IF) and the number of paper published per year, citation frequencies in two years after publication, and citations of proceeding papers and special issues were analyzed respectively. Key factors influencing the impact factor were discussed. [Findings] In the early development stage, the studied journals increase the quality at the expense of quantity. After the IF reaches a higher level, the quality and number of paper published per year increase simultaneously. High-quality proceeding papers and special issues could boost the journal's IF, while maintaining the high IF level depends on the reduction of the proportion of non-cited papers by quality control. [Conclusions] The characteristics and development stage of the journal should be taken into full consideration when choosing the journal's strategy. For Chinese oceanography SCI journals, rapid increase in journal's impact would benefit from controlling the number of papers and publishing more high-quality special issues.

【目的】 探讨国外代表性期刊影响力提升策略,为国内海洋科学类SCI收录期刊的发展提供参考和借鉴。【方法】 根据国内海洋科学类SCI收录期刊的特点筛选出3种国外代表期刊,通过分析载文量、文章出版后2年内的被引频次、会议论文和专辑与影响因子间的关系,探究推动影响因子提升的关键因素。【结果】 期刊在发展早期采取“先质量、后数量”的发展策略,待影响因子有效提升后实现文章质量和数量同步增长。高质量会议论文和专辑可在短期内大幅提升期刊影响因子,而加强质量控制、减少零被引论文比例是稳定期刊水平的关键。【结论】 期刊发展策略的选择应充分考虑期刊特点及发展阶段。对我国海洋科学类SCI收录期刊而言,现阶段可适度控制载文量,增加高质量专辑的出版数量,快速提升期刊影响力,突破发展瓶颈。
