Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims to provide assistance for editors to further understand the influence of review articles on impact factor and the feature of highly cited review articles. [Methods] Taking SCI journals in the domestic materials and the SCI journals of foreign materials ceramics as examples, we analyzed the influence of review articles on impact factor by introducing positive/negative contribution and t-test method, and then analyzed the features of the highly cited review articles. [Findings] Some review articles bring negative contribution to the improvement of journal impact factor; highly cited articles generally belong to current research hotpot and are written by highly cited authors who have published many articles in the past few years in the same field. [Conclusions] The results help editors to precisely make a decision on how to choose highly cited review articles.
