Application practice of production and management platform based on XML in physics journal publishing

摘要:

【目的】 总结Extensible Markup Language (XML)一体化生产管理平台在物理学期刊出版过程中的问题和经验,为同类及其他科技期刊的出版流程再造及优化提供参考。【方法】 以原来采用LaTex排版模式的《原子核物理评论》为例,介绍XML一体化生产管理平台在物理学期刊出版中的应用实践。【结果】 《原子核物理评论》引入该平台后,在保证内容及版式规范、准确的基础上,编校效率得到进一步提升,实现了一次制作即可多元化、多形态、多渠道发布,便捷地为作者提供优质的可持续服务。【结论】 XML一体化生产管理平台具有效率高、交互性强和资源可重用等特征,极大地优化了出版流程,有利于推动科技期刊的数字化出版进程。

Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims to provide a reference for the publishing process reengineering and optimization of physics and other scientific journals by summarizing the problems and experience in the application of Extensible Markup Language (XML)-integrated production and management platform in physics journal publishing. [Methods] Taking Nuclear Physics Review originally typeset with LaTex as an example, the application practice of an online production and management platform based on XML in the publication of physics journals was introduced. [Findings] Via XML-based online production and management platform, Nuclear Physics Review has realized higher editing efficiency on the premise of ensuring standard and accurate content and layout and diversified, multi-form, and multi-channel publication. In addition, it makes authors easily accessible to the sustainable quality services after publication. [Conclusions] The digital publishing mode based on XML has the characteristics of high efficiency, strong interactivity, and reuse of resources, which optimizes the publishing process and promotes the digital publishing of scientific journals.
