Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims to analyze the main problems existing in the current authorship system and propose the corresponding countermeasures. [Methods] Using online survey method and literature survey method, this paper analyzed the current authorship system from the perspectives of scientific journals, scientific research management institutions, funding agencies, and researchers. [Findings] The authorship system has problems such as lack of uniformity of authorship standards, low disclosure of author contributions, and failure to cover all contributing roles. It can be improved from four aspects, including establishing universal authorship standards, adopting CRediT contribution taxonomy, establishing associations with ORCID, and developing the scientific research evaluation index system. [Conclusions] The transparency and accessibility of author contributions should be improved to provide evaluation indicators based on specific contributions for researchers in the professional title evaluation, performance appraisal, and project application.
