Technical citation image of Chinese academic journals: The concept, indicator, and case study

摘要:

【目的】 从期刊的技术影响视角探析中国学术期刊对专利技术发展的知识贡献和影响程度,为中国学术期刊的评价提供多元的评价理论和应用方法。【方法】 在以往引用形象和期刊引用形象的研究基础上,融入“科学-技术”关系的专利引用分析,提出期刊技术引用形象的概念以及技术引用频次、技术引用广度、技术扩散因子、技术引用深度、技术引用重复度等评价指标。【结果】 知名期刊的技术引用形象兼具差异性与共性;构成多种知名期刊技术引用形象的专利申请人,其技术实力水平也相应较高; 高等院校专利申请人构成了知名期刊核心技术引用形象的主体,科研单位对各期刊的引用深度则相对最高。【结论】 实证结果表明期刊技术引用形象不仅能够兼顾期刊评价与原因分析,还能丰富学术期刊的评价思路与方法。

Abstract:

[Purposes] This paper aims to evaluate the technical influence of academic journals in terms of journals' knowledge contribution to patent technologies, and provide multiple evaluation theories and application methods for the evaluation of Chinese academic journals. [Methods] Based on the previous research on citation images and journal citation images, the patent citation analysis of science-technology relationship was introduced, and the concept of technical citation image of journal (TCIJ) was proposed. Indicators of TCIJ were proposed with its theoretical concept, including the frequency of journal being cited, breadth of applicants, applicant diffusion factor, citing depth, and redundancy between citation images of two journals. [Findings] An empirical study is conducted in the UAV technology field, and mainly three findings are concluded. Firstly, differences and similarities of TCIJ for famous scientific journals are co-existing. Secondly, the patent applicants who constitute the citation images of many well-known journals have corresponding high technical strengths. Thirdly, universities are the mainstream constructing key TCIJ, and research institutes master relatively deep citing (i.e. with high citing depth). [Conclusions] Applying values that TCIJ worked as a systematical and multi-dimensional evaluating method are concluded, with empirical evidences from UAV technology field. Limitations as well as further researching blueprints are discussed and proposed.
