Abstract:

[Purposes] We introduce our practice and experience of editing special issues published in Chinese Journal of Biotechnology to sum up the successful experience and provide suggestions and references for the editors of academ ic journals.[Methods] We described the practice and experience of soliciting manuscript contributions and organizing publications during our work on special issues. We also compared the citation frequency of papers published in Chinese Journal of Biotechnology between 2009 and 2011 based on CNKI statistical data.[Findings] Soliciting manuscript contributions to special issues of a scientific journal could increase the number of manuscript submission, and improve the quality of the journal.[Conclusions] Planning and publishing special issues is an effective way to improve the quality of scientific journals.
